Referring a young person to CBUS Care
We work with social workers, local authorities, independent reviewing officers, and placing teams across the UK. Our referral process is straightforward, responsive, and always centred on the young person's needs.

A clear, simple referral process
Initial contact
Email our referrals team to discuss the young person's needs. We'll have an initial conversation to understand whether CBUS Care could be the right fit.
Needs assessment
We review the referral information and carry out an initial assessment. We'll ask for relevant documentation including the young person's care plan, risk assessments, and any relevant reports.
Placement decision
We aim to provide a clear response within 24 hours of receiving a full referral. If we can offer a placement, we'll confirm the details and begin the matching process.
Transition planning
We work closely with the placing authority to plan a smooth, supported transition for the young person including introductory visits where appropriate.
What we need
Information required for a referral
Wherever possible, admissions are planned and the young person is properly prepared before taking up residence. However, we are realistic enough to know that there will be occasions when local authorities require a place at short notice. We would consider accepting an emergency referral as long as all information is present for us to complete a full assessment and matching process.
